A birthday surprise, a late-night deadline, and a room full of friends: our first nights back at Secrets Hideaway gave us plenty to talk about before the takeover had really begun. In Episode 264, Working for the Weekend at Secrets: Part 1, we’re home from Kissimmee, Florida, still tired and sorting through the moments that made this Swinger Society weekend ours.
There’s the party you see, and then there’s the work around it: checking the schedule with the Secrets crew, putting together 150 swag bags, and making time for people arriving at their first lifestyle event. This recap covers our arrival through Thursday. Friday and Saturday deserve their own conversation.
Could we make Daphne’s birthday surprise without missing the fun?
Lacy had been planning the room decorations for weeks: custom banners, balloons, and a basket of birthday goodies. Daphne and Mike were arriving late Wednesday, and Lacy wanted to be there when Daphne walked into the decorated room.
Of course, Wednesday was also our chance to spend time with friends before the hosting and DJ responsibilities picked up. A late-night group encounter turned into a race against the clock, with Lacy checking Daphne’s location and trying to make both plans work. We got back roughly two minutes before they arrived. The surprise survived, Daphne felt loved, and bedtime took a little longer than we had hoped.
Looking back, we wished we had left the courtyard earlier. Welcoming new people mattered to us, and so did having unhurried time together. Trying to fit everything into the same hour left us feeling rushed.
Does one anxious moment mean an encounter needs a do-over?
Another part of the night stayed with Lacy for a different reason. A new partner experienced performance anxiety, but she came away feeling that they had shared a good experience. He kept asking for a redo throughout the weekend; she kept trying to reassure him that the night hadn’t been a failure.
That difference in perspective is the heart of the conversation. Lacy appreciated how the couple handled an awkward moment together and didn’t want his disappointment to erase what had gone well. Dan understood the pressure of wanting a first encounter to be memorable. We talk through both perspectives without treating anyone’s body as a scorecard.
We also had our own communication to work on. When friends asked Dan about plans, sending everyone to Lacy made her feel more pressure. Her request was simple: talk privately as a couple first, then let friends know what we had decided. Being excited about an idea at home doesn’t mean having the energy for it after a long day of hosting.
From theme-night nerves to Thursday’s tiki party
The worker-themed outfits caused plenty of pre-trip overthinking, including from Lacy. Once everyone arrived, we loved seeing what they put together. Meanwhile, the Secrets team kept things moving through changes in staff responsibilities, and our community jumped in to help with setup.
Thursday brought room deliveries, birthday cakes, drag queen bingo, and music under the tiki. Some activities ran long, and we’re already thinking about how to improve the welcome-night flow. Still, the dance floor was busy, friends were reconnecting, and the tiki party felt like an event in its own right. By the end, rest belonged on the schedule too.
