Secrets Part 2 takes us from Friday’s pool games to a Saturday dance floor that stayed busy until closing. In Episode 265, we pick up our Working for the Weekend takeover recap with Motorbunny activities, a frank conversation about hosting boundaries, Friday’s group-play stories, and the music that kept everyone going. There was plenty to celebrate—and a few things we want to improve.
What happened after Thursday’s tiki party?
If you listened to Part 1, we left off at the Thursday-night tiki party. This time, we start by looking at what that first evening is supposed to do: help people meet before the bigger nights get rolling. We talk about feedback on the meet-and-greet and whether more conversation during the dinner hours would make those introductions easier.
That is the side of hosting you do not always see in a highlight reel. A party can have great music and still leave us thinking about how to make it easier for someone new to find their people. We are open to specific ideas, including games people have seen work well elsewhere.
How do Dan and Lacy approach hosting differently?
Friday’s pool discussion brings out a difference we know well: we have different personalities, and we do not host in exactly the same way. Lacy talks about making herself available for conversations while staying within her own comfort zone. Being approachable does not mean participating in every activity or becoming a different person for the crowd.
We also get into the balance behind the games. A quick activity can bring people together; one that runs too long can interrupt the music and conversations already happening. With the Secrets MCs taking on more of the games, Dan had more time to mingle. Motorbunny and wand activities were part of the pool program, and we discuss how participation has grown over the years.
The feedback matters to us, but so does keeping perspective. We talk about how easy it is to focus on a small number of critiques and overlook what worked for other guests. Listening and changing everything are two different decisions.
What made Friday night at Secrets memorable?
Before the club, we got to enjoy the room crawl as visitors instead of putting together a room ourselves. That meant time to see the work other people had done, eat, and get ready. Sometimes taking one thing off the hosting list gives you more of the actual weekend.
Friday’s office-themed night led into Dan’s opening DJ set and, later, a candid group-play recap involving familiar friends. Lacy jokes about surpassing Dan’s personal partner count, while we also talk about why naming everyone in a retelling gets complicated. The episode keeps the full discussion in our own words.
There is practical feedback in that part of the conversation, too: heat and access to drinking water affected how long people stayed. Those details belong in an honest event recap alongside the highlights.
Who kept the club going until Saturday’s close?
Saturday brought the Hard Hats and Hammers theme, photos together before the club, and a night we stayed for right through the lights coming on. Dan was not opening that night, so we could arrive together and enjoy the start as a couple.
Filthy Frequency gets our shout-out for the closing set. We talk about the crowd that stays to hear him finish and how much that final stretch of music adds to the night. The weekend also included a remembrance for Brandon—a meaningful moment with the Secrets community amid the celebration.
